Adoption Package and Fees
The adoption package for a dog or a cat includes:
- Vet exam
- Microchip & inclusion in national registry
- Personalized ID tag
- Spay or neuter surgery
- First vaccinations & de-worming
- 45 days of pet health insurance
- $10 discount on dog obedience classes
- Temporary collar
- Temporary leash for dogs or a carrier for cats
- Buy-one/get-one-free special on Science Diet pet food at Davenport’s Den
Adoption Fees
- Puppies: starting at $125 (rare shelter breeds up to $350)
- Dogs: starting at $100 (rare shelter breeds up to $350)
- Senior Dogs (7+ years): starting at $60
- Kittens: starting at $90
- Cats: starting at $75
- Senior Cats (7+ years): starting at $40
- 2-for-1 Cats: Adopt any cat or kitten and we’ll waive the adoption fee on the second cat (within 30 days of the first adoption).
- Rabbits: $35
- Guinea Pigs: $20
- Birds: starting at $10
- Other Small Animals: starting at $5
WHS does not accept checks for adoptions or merchandise. We do accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, and debit cards.
Hold Fees
Potential adopters can place a one-day hold on an animal for $10. To place a hold, you must complete and fax your adoption application and call customer service at (503) 585-5900. Staff will process your hold and credit card information over the phone. Holds expire at the close of business on the following day.
